Where a vehicle requires the manufacturer procedure, OEM Key Specialists can use the relevant diagnostic and security platform rather than relying solely on aftermarket key-programming equipment.

Manufacturer Diagnostics and Programming

Depending on the brand and vehicle, official platforms can be used for secure diagnostics, key programming, immobiliser procedures, control-unit commissioning, coding, parameterisation or software download. Access is always subject to the manufacturer’s current permissions, subscription and vehicle support.

SERMI and Security-Related Repair Information

SERMI is the approval and authorisation scheme through which approved Independent Operators can request access to security-related repair and maintenance information from participating vehicle manufacturers. It does not make every function available on every vehicle; availability still depends on the manufacturer, vehicle and procedure. SERMI provides an identity and authorisation framework; the vehicle manufacturer still controls the availability of each function and procedure.

Security Checks, Proof of Ownership and Records

For security-related programming carried out through SERMI and authorised manufacturer systems, we must verify that the person requesting the work is entitled to have the vehicle accessed or programmed.

This will normally require photo identification and the vehicle V5C or another acceptable form of proof of ownership or authority before the relevant security procedure can be completed.

Where required, relevant customer, vehicle, job and verification records are retained securely for the period specified by the applicable manufacturer, SERMI and legal requirements.

These records are stored within a secure dedicated compliance record system and are only used for the relevant security, audit and regulatory requirements.
